White Sands National Park, New Mexico - the newest National Park in the US
We usually associate sand dunes with a golden color, but did you know that dunes can also be white? White Sand National Parks offers a unique sight of these white sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals. The gypsum dune field is the largest of its kind on Earth.
There are many activities you can choose from: camping in the ten primitive backcountry camping sites; biking through the dunes; dunes drive on an eight-mile scenic drive; exploring solitude and silence while hiking; admiring the stunning surroundings while taking photos, and also sledding on the gypsum dunes that behave like snow.
